10/06 - Super-slow Progress!

I can't believe I haven't updated this site in a month. Even worse, since Sept. 12th I've only managed to get one shot done; and that was this past weekend. This is because it takes a lot of work to make a movie, and since I'm being paid to work on a movie other than mine I have found myself spending 6-7 days a week working on THAT movie.

Hopefully I'll have weekends free soon and be able to at least get 2-3 shots a week done. At this point I have no idea when "Do Not Push" will be done, although definitely some time in 2010.

Yay! Finally shooting again.

9/06 - Slow Progress!

Work has definitely slowed me down, but I'm trying to get a couple shots done over Labor Day weekend. So far I shot a hard one, which is good because it took me a little over six hours and I would never attempt that one at night after working.

There are now 48 shots left to shoot thanks to cutting some shots that were redundant and animating others.

8/27 - New Job!

I start a new job today. This is good news in general, but bad news for the film as it will now take me longer to shoot. So far I've done 9 shots for a total of about 27 seconds running time. I've also cut a couple of shots to make the pacing of the film work better so I probably have about 50 more shots to go. Hopefully I won't get slowed down too much by my new job.

8/21 - Workflow!

I'm starting to get the workflow down now. Based on what we had setup I was trying to knock out some harder shots at first, but this led to some issues that needed to be fixed on the puppets. That's also the reason I originally wanted to do those shots later on. But it was good to try, and see what I needed to fix with Juan Pablo. His left foot was to loose (fixed) and the part of his armature that let's me attach a rig to his back detached from his body (also fixed).

With those minor inconviences taken care of I decided to setup some easier shots so that I can get used to the puppets. To the right is Juan Pablo after surgery getting ready for his closeup. This shot is being done in front of a green screen and the background will be composited in later.

8/19 - Production!

"Do Not Push" is now officially in production! So far I've only got 2 shots done because of a minor hiccup with my tie-down bolts being too short. Why the bigger hardware stores don't carry longer bolts is beyond me, but thanks you Ace Hardware for having a wide variety! I'm in business now.
